Hi!

I have a k-30-std less than 10 hours of use on it.  My problem is that it goes through a whole tank of fuel around every 4 L of fogging mix.  I've played with the dials for around 2 hours while fogging trying to get the 'gas millage' better. Ive cleaned it out after every 2-3 hours of use, using the brush and the cleaner. Could it maybe be the diaphrams are already dirty and lending to this poor gas usage problem?

Any help/suggestions/experiences would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Thanks for your post.

This is an odd problem. Normally, the gasoline tank (2.5L) will last more than a full 10 L solution tank when fogging. To have it only last for 4 L means something is wrong.

I have a few questions to see if we can narrow down the problem.
  • How long does it take to fog the 4 L? With your machine it should be only 4-5 minutes. If it is taking 15-20, then there may be a clogging issue in the solution lines and/or nozzle or --
  • Is your tank sealing well? If not, it will not push the solution to the nozzle at the proper rate, causing it to take longer (see above) Make sure that the cap is sealed and test by using some soapy water around the seal. If you see bubbles, the cap is not tight. Similarly, inspect the air line from the carburetor to the tank cap. If there are cracks or poor connections, this may be the source of a leak.
If neither of these help, please give us a call at 920/684.0227. You can ask for me directly or speak to Phil, our service manager.

Thank you for the reply!

It seems to take around 10 min to fog around 4-5L of solution.  At the same time it will use an entire tank of fuel in that time period as well.

First time use out of the box it ran great!  Second time the fuel useage started to decrease, and now it is in its current state, thus the forum questions.

The solution tank blows up nice while fogging, doesn't seem to be leaking however i haven't actually tested it with soapy water.  I didn't think that would be an issue since it only has about 10 hours of total use thus far.

The thickness or viscosity of the solution is also a potential cause. I have seen on numerous occassios where the applicator was trying to apply a product without any dilution.

I am diluting all insecticides that we use with water.  Solution contains, the insecticide, nutrifog, and water.  Since we do the same areas every year we have a laminated sheet with the required amount of material for each greenhouse we are fogging.  Been using that sheet for years now with no issues.  Solution is mixed thoroughly before we start to fog.  I've done multiple products through this fogger with same gas usage issue.
