If an emitter becomes clogged and needs removal, it is best to cut the barb off of the emitter using a clipper or sharp scissors and insert a new emitter into the existing hole.

Remember, emitters are barbed to stay in place. If simply pulled out, the barb will widen and potentially change the shape of the poly tubing or even tear it. This will make it nearly impossible for the new emitter to get a good seal in the poly.
