The new WPS rules now limit exclusionary areas based on droplet size. They reference the ASABE Droplet Size Classification Chart (seen below).image002.png

The most important change comes with regard to droplets smaller than Medium. For the most part, hydraulic sprays will fit into the Fine to Medium or larger range.

For reference, the human hair is 100µ. With regards to Dramm equipment, the Hydra sprayer, at 500psi with the standard gun in the finest setting, will produce a droplet spectrum with a VMD at the top of the Fine range. It is possible to achieve sprays in the Medium range with this machine by coarsening the pattern and reducing pressure. A chart of available nozzles for the Hydra gun is here. The chart is also available as an image.

The MSO at 500 psi with the MS-TG gun in the finest setting, will produce a droplet spectrum with a VMD in the Fine range. The designation carries with it a larger exclusionary area.

The MS-TG gun, can be used with the Hydra. At 500 psi, at the finest setting, this will produce a droplet spectrum with a VMD in the Fine range as well.

All other Dramm equipment, PulsFOG, Autofog and Coldfogger, will all produce droplets well below the Medium range. Please take this into account when planning your chemical applications.
